Ashley Leiker-3rd Grade

Ashley Leiker

A Message from Mrs. Leiker:

Hello Falcons, my name is Ashley Leiker (pronounced Liker) I am so excited to join the Voy Spears team!  My education career began in 2009, in Joplin, Missouri where I taught 2nd grade and coached high school volleyball.  In 2011, the Joplin tornado destroyed my house and brought me home to Blue Springs, where I grew up.   I was hired to teach 3rd grade at William Bryant Elementary.  In 2012, I met my husband and in 2013 we were married.  We have 3 children and just recently moved to Blue Springs.  I taught 2nd and 3rd grade at William Bryant Elementary for 8 years.  In May of 2019 we had our 3rd child, I decided to take a year off and stay home with my kids.  It has defiantly been a year of many memories and blessings.  I enjoyed all the time I had at home with my family, but I am excited to return to the classroom this fall!

Brenda Mullendore-2nd Grade

Brenda Mullendore

A Message from Mrs. Mullendore:

Hi Falcon Families!  I’m so excited to join the VSE 2nd grade team this year.  This has been a busy year for our family.  I have two grown sons who have four daughters between them, and my daughter blessed us with twin boys in March.  They were 12 weeks early, and Covid-19 kept visitors away.  But, I finally got to meet them on June 21st.  So, I’ve spent most of the summer helping with feedings and diaper changes or playing with my granddaughters.

I began working in education in 1996 as a Library Aid and a Substitute Teacher in Independence, Missouri.  I worked there for 4 years while I went back to school to complete my Teaching Certification.  In 1999, I graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education.  I was hired as a Fifth Grade teacher at Franklin Smith Elementary that same year.  I taught 5th grade for eight years, and then decided that I was ready for a change and began teaching Fourth grade in 2008.  Each year I would teach younger grades during the summer school session and I found that I really enjoyed teaching Second Grade.  In 2012 a Second grade position was open, and I asked if I could move again.  I have never looked back on that decision.  I love to see how excited students are to learn at this age, and how proud they are when they see their improvement. I can’t wait to meet my new students and get back to teaching in the classroom.  I look forward to meeting you all soon!

Kelsi Arnone-Speech/Language Pathologist

Kelsi Arnone

A Message from Mrs. Arnone:

Hello Families and Students of Voy Spears Elementary! My name is Kelsi Arnone, and I will be one of the new Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) working in the building. I am incredibly excited for the upcoming school year and to be a part of the Voy Spears Team! This will be my first year working as a SLP, as I have just graduated with my master’s degree in communication disorders and sciences from Rockhurst University. I have had various clinical experiences working with individuals from birth to geriatrics but have a big passion for working with kiddos!

I am originally from and grew up in Peoria, IL but came to Missouri when I obtained my bachelor’s degree from Truman State University in communication disorders. There, I was a member of the Truman State University Showgirls Dance Team where I was able to participate in one of my biggest passions, dance. I still love to both take and teach dance. Aside from my time working as an SLP, I also work as a Pure Barre Instructor. I love being able to bring the energy, confidence, and drive I have learned through my dance experiences to my professional practice as an SLP.

Currently, I live in Lees Summit with my wonderful husband who I happily married last August! My husband is finishing his final year of his doctoral program for Physical Therapy at Rockhurst University. We are both excited to begin working in our respective fields and be a part of this community. In my free time, I love to be outside, go for walks, hikes, or to sit back, relax, watch a movie, play board games, and enjoy a huge bowl of popcorn! One of my biggest obsessions is for dogs and rescue animals. I absolutely adore dogs, but I currently do not have my own. Although, I am an aspiring dog mom and hope to have one very soon!

I look forward to meeting and getting to know everyone throughout the school year and to start my career in the Blue Springs School District.
