A Letter from Principal Jenifer Ward

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at Voy Spears Jr. Elementary. I am so happy to have the opportunity to work with you and your child during this school year.  My hopes are that this year  our school year will be filled with learning, fun, and most importantly success! I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself.

I am a very proud Blue Springs graduate. My memories of growing up and attending grades 5th-12th here in Blue Springs are those I won’t soon forget. It is an honor that now, I get to consider myself a member of the BSSD team!

I received my degree in Elementary Music Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri. In December of 2015, I completed my master’s degree in Elementary School Administration the University of Central Missouri.

I began my teaching career as a music teacher and continued that for 6 years. I then had the opportunity to move into the classroom where I taught 5th grade and 2nd grade. Finally, I began my role in leadership first as a literacy coach and then had the opportunity to become an administrative intern followed by an assistant principal.  I love Blue Springs and I believe it is a great place to live and raise a family.  In fact, I have two daughters that are students in our district, and I am grateful they have the chance to receive their education here in Blue Springs. Outside of my career in education, I also enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters and love watching all their activities!

I love working with children and it is my daily hope to make a small impact in the lives of each of my students. I hope to provide a positive learning environment where all students feel safe, welcomed, and loved.

I believe that each of you play a valuable role in your child’s education and it is vital for us to work together for every student to be successful. I’m looking forward to a great year together! Please don’t hesitate to call or e-mail me with any questions, comments, or concerns.
